The fascinating Tamarinds obtain their name from the Persian Tamar hind or ‘Indian Date’. Originally from the African tropics and then Indian, it abounds today in Latin America and the Caribbean where it is used as the base of our delicious Tamarind Sauce. This sweet and sour fruit allows us to make our sauce ideal for marinating chicken and other meats. Mix it with cream cheese or mayonnaise for great chip or vegetable dip too.
